Possession

The last steps of redevelopment: the building's Occupancy Certificate, the flat and parking draws, the snag list and the handover kit. None of them has started; this page explains each step so nothing is a surprise later.

  • FUTURE STAGE
  • CONSTRUCTION NOT STARTED

Sample data for Shree Harmony, a fictional society. Not a real record.

The possession steps

  1. Occupancy Certificate (OC)

The municipal corporation certifies that the finished building may be lived in. No one takes possession before the OC is issued.

    Future stage
  2. Flat draw

Final flats are allotted by the method the general body approves, for example a recorded draw among flats of the same entitlement. Today every new flat is a working allocation only.

  3. Parking draw

Parking slots are allotted only after the sanctioned parking basis and the society's allocation method are recorded.

    Future stage
  4. Snag list

You inspect your new flat with the developer and list every defect. The developer fixes them before you accept possession.

    Future stage
  5. Handover kit

You receive your possession letter, keys and the documents for your flat and the building.
